Interdisciplinary Approach for Disaster Resilience and Sustainability

AIT’s Dr. Indrajit Pal and Dr. Sangam Shrestha has co-edited a book titled Interdisciplinary Approach for Disaster Resilience and Sustainability”. The 28-chapter book (535 pages), published by Springer served as a reference book for researchers, academia, students, disaster managers, and policy makers from natural science, social science, engineering, and multidisciplinary backgrounds.

Congratulations to the GAF Fellowship students

The 7th Global Conference on Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries (GAF7) was held at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand in October 2018. It has been agreed that part of the proceeds from GAF7 be converted to fellowship to support students study gender in aquaculture/ fisheries.

We would like to congratulate Ms. Nant May Than Htay from Myanmar, and Ms. Sujata Timelsina from Nepal to be awarded the fellowship.

Congratulations for our new PhDs!

In August 2019, three DDS students completed their PhD. Congratulations! We are very proud to have Shahab-E-Saqib, Supattra Yamsrual and Manjunatha Venkatappa as new PhD holders who will be leaders in their own respective fields. It was an awesome month for us having three subsequent PhD public defence seminars in a month.

DPMM/DDS Students Participated in the International Summer School

5 AIT students attend the International Summer School on “Geo-informatics Serves the Belt and Road” between August 18 – 24, 2019.

Five AIT students participated in Summer school on “Geo-informatics Serves the Belt and Road” organized by the School of Geoscience and Info-Physics of the Central South University of China. Participating students were Nattapon Trumikaborworn (DPMM/DDS), Ranadheer Mandadi, Hasan Reaz Kallol (DPMM/DDS), Afsana Shahid, and Gautam Dadhich.

Through the UN Climate Action Summit on September 23, 2019, UN Secretary-General António Guterres is calling upon global leaders to come to New York with concrete, realistic plans to enhance their nationally determined contributions by 2020, in line with reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent over the next decade, and to net zero emissions by 2050. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has responded to the call of Secretary-General Guterres, and Bangladesh will join the summit being one of the country members of Track No 6 on resilience and adaptation.
