A presentation by Ms.Veena N., a PhD GDS student with her advisor, Dr. Kyoko Kusakabe, as co-author, was awarded the Best Paper Award at GAF7 (the 7th Gender in Aquaculture & Fisheries: Expanding the Horizons).
Veena is a doctoral student of Gender and Development Studies in the Department of Development and Sustainability in AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development.

An article written by Rajan Parajuli, a GDS PhD student with his advisor, Dr. Philippe Doneys, as co-author, was awarded the Elsevier Atlas Award for December 2017
Rajan is a doctoral student of Gender and Development Studies in the Department of Development and Sustainability in AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development. The article was coauthored by Rajan with his advisor Dr. Philippe Doneys, who serves as an Associate Professor at AIT.
Atlas was launched by Elsevier in January 2015 to showcase research that is of significant impact to people’s lives around the world. Every month, a single Atlas article is selected from published research from across over 3,800 journals on Science Direct by an external advisory board made up of individuals from NGOs. The panelists review the contribution to science and society, and analyze the societal impact of the article.
On 14-15 September, GDS faculty members delivered a workshop on research methodology to faculty members and students at Yangon University of Economics, under a IDRC supported project.
On 18 September, students of Gender, Enterprise and Organization visited Thanyaporn Reception Home for Girls to learn from PTT’s CSR program under Power and Sustainable Future Foundation.
Graduate students from Ochanomizu University and undergraduate students from Nagoya University for Foreign Studies are visiting AIT as part of their overseas study program on August 27, 2018. Students of Gender, Enterprise and Organization course visited the Association for the Promotion of the Status of Women to learn about their activities in supporting teenage mothers and victims of domestic violence as well as their initiatives in social enterprises.
