The COVID-19 Outbreak: A Testing Time for NGOs in Bangladesh

One of the few good things Bangladesh is known for around the world is NGOs and their work. About fifty years ago, when the country became independent, the oldest NGOs started their work by providing relief to the people affected by the war of independence by helping to rebuilding their livelihoods. In the last few decades NGOs in Bangladesh have travelled a long way: reaching the remote areas, mobilizing the poor into groups for making them aware about health, education, running schools, providing loans to start their small businesses. With the improvements in Bangladesh’s social indicators and its economic condition, the fortunes of the NGOs have also changed.

AIT Ranks 19th in World in SDG1—No Poverty in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020

AIT participated for the first time in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, which looks at global universities’ commitment and performance in furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  Over 850 universities from 89 countries participated in this ranking exercise by submitting input during 2019, and the results were just published on April 22, 2020 by THE.

Scholarship in Gender and Development Studies for Japanese Nationals

Scholarship available for Japanese national for master’s degree in Gender and Development Studies at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

Two-years MSc. tuition is covered by scholarship.
The student will pay the following: Airfare, visa fees, insurance, student union fees, living expenses, registration fee of 20,000 Baht per semester (4 semesters).

The classes will start in August 2020.
