Forest Poetry Contest in Celebration of the International Day of the Forest 2022 – The Forest Speaks
Natural Resources Management Academic Program (NRM), Department of Development and Sustainability would like to present Forest Poetry Contest on March 19, 2022, in celebration of the International Day of the Forest 2022 in the theme “The Forest Speaks”.

This poetry writing competition aims to highlight the value and role of the forest in the world. Forest Poetry Writing Competition aims to raise public awareness of the forest as a valuable resource that is often neglected and devalued. Participants who are enjoined to the event will be provided with opportunities to share and be heard across the globe about their insights, words of encouragement, and personal perspectives about the forest, especially in the context of the country they represent.

Forest Poetry Writing Contest Mechanics
Competition Theme
The Forest Poetry Competition will follow the event theme “The Forest Speaks”. Entries must strictly adhere to the contest theme. The management reserves the right to exclude any entry that does not comply with the competition theme at its sole discretion.

Registration and Entry
- The contest is open to all officially registered students from all educational institutions aged 18 years old and above.
- Submission of the poem will be via google form, and any submissions outside the created google form will not be recognized.
- Each participant should register and submit their entry to this link Click a button below to be qualified.
Poetry Writing Guidelines
- Poetry should be written in style adhering to the set guidelines and reflecting the event’s theme.
- The poem must be original. Plagiarism is a serious offense with serious consequences.
- Only one poem submission per person is allowed.
- All poems must be written in English.
- Contest entries must be at least 3 stanzas, with 3 lines each. However, the number of lines should not exceed a total number of 26, including stanza breaks. In addition, the characters per line, including spaces between words, should not exceed a total of 45. Any entry that exceeds these limitations, 5 points will be deducted from the overall rating.
- The poem title does not count as a line.
- The poem must be in a single space.
- Do not use “texting” lingo. Properly spell out all words and numbers.
- Poems containing vulgar, offensive, or wholly inappropriate language to any race, culture, or community will not be accepted.
- The poem must be submitted in two formats; .docs, .pdf, and .jpeg. Do not include your name or any other information in your poem. Details, such as name or student ID, must only be indicated on the submission via google form.

- Rating from the Board of Jury 50%
Online Voting (50%)
Online voting will be via Facebook. Qualified entry poems will be posted on the official Facebook page of the NRM https://www.facebook.com/nrmait. Facebook reactions that the entry poem received will have a corresponding point.
The opening and closing of the voting will be announced later.
Criteria for Judging (50%)
- Relevance to the theme 50%
- Creativity/Style and Originality 30%
- Coherence of form and structure(harmony of words, presentation) 10%
- Clarity of Imagery and Language 10%

- Second Prize Token & Certificate of Recognition
- Third Prize Token & Certificate of Recognition
- Special Award Token & Certificate of Recognition
- Non-winning entries shall be given a certificate of participation.
Note: Entitlements will be sent two days after the announcement of winners.
There are more exciting prizes that will be announced later.
All winners will be invited to present their poems (live or recorded) during the World Forest Day Virtual Celebration to be held in SERD, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
All submitted poems will be compiled as a collection and posted to the NRM-AIT official page
