We are happy to share the latest article โ€œWomen, Peace and Security Networks: Sustaining Peace Efforts in Myanmar and Thailandโ€, authored by Dr. Duanghathai Buranajaroenkij, Prof. Kyoko Kusakabe , faculty members at the Department of Development and Sustainability, AIT , Gender and Development Studies academic program AIT_GDS and Ms. Sanda Thant , Director of the Socio-Economic and Gender Resource Institute (#SEGRI)โ€” three leading voices in the field of gender, peace, and development.
This thought-provoking piece highlights how women-led networks in Myanmar and Thailand are playing a crucial role in sustaining peace efforts and advocating for human rights and justiceโ€”often in contexts where formal mechanisms are failing or inaccessible.
Despite shrinking civic spaces, armed conflicts, and authoritarian pushback, these womenโ€™s networks are acting as silent lifelines of peace, creating platforms for dialogue, mobilizing communities, and keeping hope alive. The article not only documents these efforts but also urges international actors to recognize, support, and include these critical voices in policymaking and peace processes.
Let us reflect, engage, and act on the message: Peace cannot be sustained without the leadership, participation, and protection of women.
