Open seminar titled “Socioeconomic Changes and Rural Revitalization in China: Theoretical Cognition and Practical Exploration.”

On April 8, 2025: DDS recently organized an open seminar titled “Socioeconomic Changes and Rural Revitalization in China: Theoretical Cognition and Practical Exploration.” The guest speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yuheng Li, an Associate Professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered an insightful lecture to DPMI faculty and students.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Li for sharing his valuable insights on rural revitalization in China, as well as examples from other countries such as Sweden and Japan.

Additionally, we extend our thanks to the students who attended and contributed to making the seminar meaningful experiences.

Yuheng Li, associate professor at Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Being a rural geographer, his research has focused on urbanization, rural transformation and resilience, poverty reduction. He has published 125 scientific papers, 68 of which appeared in world-known SCI/SSCI indexed journals such as Nature

Dr. Yuheng is the PI of many national projects. He is on the list of Top 2% Scientist (Stanford/Elsevier) and Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate). He is currently serving as associate editor for Journal of Rural Studies and Asian Geographer. He is now the deputy chair and secretary for International Geographical Union (IGU) Commission on Agricultural Geography and Land Engineering (2024-). He is also a guest professor at Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of Polish Academy of Science (IRWiR PAN).
