Ms. Preeyaporn Muenratch, Ph.D. candidate in DSP, has successfully defended her doctoral research entitled “Assessing Governance of Groundwater and Groundwater users’ Behavior in Transitions toward Groundwater Adaptive Governance in Thailand” at 2.30-4.00 PM, on November 17, 2022.
Examination committee: Assistant Professor Dr. Thi Phuoc Lai Nguyen (chairperson), Assistant Professor Dr. Joyee S. Chatterjee, Prof. Dr. Sangam Shrestha, Associate Professor Dr. Salvatore G.P. Virdis (committee members)’
External examiner: Prof. Maria de Fátima Lopes Alves, Universidad de Aveiro, Portugal.
The study examined groundwater governance in Khon Kaen, an urbanizing city, considering climate and anthropogenic pressure on groundwater level and extraction, water-saving behavior, policy, and institutional responses over time. Theory of planned behavior, OECD Water Governance Framework, Trend analysis, Confirmatory factor analysis, Probit regression, and Structural Equation Modelling were applied. The findings suggested adaptive groundwater governance for dynamic socio-economic development and climate change.
Congratulations, Dr. Preeyaporn Muenratch!
