About the Program

Although many efforts on sustainable environmental management while fostering economic growth have been globally and regionally made, environmental policy makers, managers and practitioners still struggle to find out sustainable approaches for environmental development management.

This master program in Environment and Sustainable Development aims to train the professionals with a primary interest in the linkages between development economics and environmental management from the multidisciplinary approaches. Students are expected to gain essential knowledge, instruments, skills and techniques for making developmental practices more sustainable without compromising the environmental integrity and human health.

Program Requirements

Weeks

This is a one-year professional master program, equivalent to about 42 weeks of study and research.

Credits

To complete the program, all students are required to achieve 30 credits, in which 24 credits are from course works and 6 credits are research project

Classes for 2 credits will be held in AIT during international field trips to Thailand

Upon completion of 30 credits and passing all examination requirements, students will obtain Master of Science Professional in Environment and Sustainable Development from the Asian Institute of Technology.

Admission Requirements

1.

Hold a minimum 3-year undergraduate

Candidates must hold a 3-year undergraduate in any relevant fields and have a minimum of 3 year working experience. If potential students do not have 3 year working experience, significant relevant working experience during their bachelor with good academic performance will be taken into account.

2.

English requirement upon admission

At least IELTS 5.0, TOEFL Paper 500, TOEFL CBT 173, TOEFL IBT 60. The graduation requirement is English IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent), a CGPA of 2.75 in coursework and a pass in the research project. Those who do not obtain a CGPA of 2.75 are given a certificate.

The program is designed to make utmost use of the existing expertise in the Department of Development and Sustainability (DDS) and the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) in the most internationally relevant fields. The aim is to equip managers, practitioners and policy makers engaged in the broad field of socio-economic developmental actions with sound understanding of environmental issues in the context of sustainable development from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Students are expected to gain essential knowledge, instruments, skills and techniques for making developmental practices more sustainable without compromising the environmental integrity and human health.

Tuition Fees and Costs

Total Tuition Fee

THB 480,000

The indicative total tuition fee is calculated based on a full-time study load which is 30 credits (two semesters) with 3 credits of AIT scholarship

AIT Scholarship

Qualified students can apply for AIT Scholarship, which is a financial aid from minimum 3 credits (equivalent to THB 48,000) to 9 credits (equivalent to THB 144,000)
