Dr. Punam Yadav, an alumnus of GDS, is Co-Director of the IRDR Centre for Gender and Disaster at the University College London

Dr Punam Yadav is an alumnus of the Gender and Development Studies program (GDS).  She studied MSc in Gender and Development at the Asian Institute of Technology between 2005 and 2007. Dr Kyoko Kusakabe was her supervisor.

Dr Yadav completed her PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a Lecturer in Humanitarian Studies at the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction at the University College London. Dr Yadav is also a Co-director of the IRDR Centre for Gender and Disaster at UCL.

AIT equipped her with all the necessary skills to pursue her PhD.

Her MSc thesis that examined the gendered impacts of Internal Displacement in Nepal, which formed the basis for her PhD research. In her PhD, she examined the transformative effects of war on women in Nepal, which has now been published as a book entitled, ‘Social Transformation in Post-conflict Nepal: A Gender Perspective’. She also has a number of publications, including in Gender, Technology and Development.
